We arrived in Kelowna just a few days ago but rented a van and headed to Edmonton (10 hour drive) with Jeanie and Wills to attend the wedding of our nephew and his new bride. It was great to be with everyone and see the family. We also discovered that through this marriage we are now related to the Janz Family....what a great discovery!!!
We had a wonderful time with friends, Brent and June, as they were on their way to Germany. They purposely planned a lay over in the UK and we were so thankful for the time we had to catch up and see some sights.
Tim visited us with a colleague at Sanctuary. The guys were headed into London for the day and we asked what they would like to see. Their response was "we want to see the Queen"...our response was "yeah right!". Guess what...they did see the queen and have pictures to prove it. Wished we had gone with them.
We had the privilege of hosting the UK mini orientation for 3 of our newest members to TeachBeyond. It was so great to hear about their journey and how the Lord is leading them in their lives to serve. We had many conversations at the table.
Our church each year has a plant and cake sale in which we raise funds for a particular organization. This year our goal was to raise funds for Compassion. We have for sale plants, Bric-a-brac, crafts and cakes. We also serve tea and coffee and cakes so people can sit and chat. It was a huge success and at this time the Government here in England will double the amount given...this was an amazing day filled with fun, food and fellowship.
Jennifer is one our new Collegues who is working in the Chicago office at present in People Services. She is hoping to go to one of our European places to help but has yet to receive her Visa.
We had such a lovely time getting to know Jennifer. She is talented and very eager to help with TeachBeyond's People side. We are thankful for the privilege to get to know her and hope she will return for another visit.
We were able to travel to Germany to combine with the Regional Member Care Team to celebrate years of service for our TeachBeyond members. We brought scones, clotted cream, jams and cheese to celebrate with. What a joy to encourage our members - 100 were in attendance.
Tea time...anytime. But this occasion was special as we celebrated one of our Banner Group Ladies 70th birthday. It was great fun to be together and to enjoy the treats of homemade scones, lemon tarts, cake and berries.
